Aldi Scotland to stock McQueen Pink Gin

Budget supermarket Aldi has extended its deal with Scotland-based McQueen Gin to exclusively stock the brand’s pink gin across its Scottish stores.

McQueen Pink Gin is bottled at 37.5% abv

The partnership follows the “remarkable success” of McQueen’s Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin, which is available in Scotland through Aldi.

McQueen Pink Gin has been produced at the Trossachs Distillery in Callander, Stirling.

It will be available at Aldi stores across Scotland from Monday (15 October), priced at £19.99 (US$26.50) for a 500ml bottle. The contract for the McQueen Pink Gin with Aldi is worth £300,000 (US$396,600) to the distillery.

Bottled at 37.5% abv, McQueen Pink Gin has been infused with raspberries and cranberries resulting in a “deliciously fruity flavour”.

Vicky McQueen, co-founder of McQueen Gin, said: “Pink gins are enjoying a surge in popularity and we have been working hard at the distillery to bring to market our own interpretation that will stand out from the crowd.

“After much experimentation, we hit upon just the right recipe, infused with raspberries and cranberries for a well balanced yet subtle fruity flavour.

“To the naked eye it may look very vibrant however the flavour is perfectly soft and pleasing.

“By infusing the gin again post-distillation, we’ve been able to intensify the fruity flavour, without losing the character of the spirit itself, which was very important to us.

“After the success of the Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin earlier this year, we’re delighted to continue our strong relationship with Aldi with this latest release.”

Graham Nicolson, group buying director, Aldi Scotland, said: “The Scottish gin industry is continuing to boom, and we are committed to supporting craft distillers to ensure that Scotland remains at the forefront of innovation.

“We have an excellent relationship with McQueen Gin. Our latest project, the Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin was so successful in Scotland that we’ve since extended the contract with McQueen Gin and rolled the product out to Aldi stores across the UK.

“We hope to emulate that success with the launch of this striking McQueen Pink Gin, which we’re confident will be another hit with our customers.”
