TWE releases ‘futuristic’ whiskies for anniversary show

21st September, 2018 by Amy Hopkins

The Whisky Exchange (TWE) has unveiled three limited edition bottlings from the Ben Nevis, Ledaig and Invergordon brands ahead of its 10th Whisky Show, which will be themed around the future of whisky.

The Whisky Exchange has launched a trio of whiskies with futuristic labels

All three bottles feature lenticular labels to reflect the theme of the show, taking place on 29-30 September for consumers and 1 October for members of the trade.

Thought to be a first for the whisky industry, the labels offer a “feeling of depth and movement”.

The 21-year-old Ben Nevis single malt (£130/US$171) is titled Past Future and refers to “what we thought the future would be in the past”. Aged in a Sherry butt and with an abv of 47.5%, 144 bottles of the whisky will be made available.

The 12-year-old Ledaig single malt (£74.95/US$99) is titled Present Future, referring to “what we presently think the future will be”. TWE will offer 636 bottles of the whisky, which has been aged in a Sherry butt and bottled at 58.4% abv.

The 44-year-old Invergordon single grain whisky (£250/US$230), called The Future, represents “what we think the future might be in the future”. It has been aged in a hogshead and bottled at 51.6% abv.

The whiskies will be available to sample at The Whisky Show’s Show Bottlings stand – number 68 – and will also be available to buy at the event via The Whisky Exchange Shop.

In May, The Whisky Exchange opened its second London site, offering more than 2,500 spirits, wines and beers.
