Douglas Laing celebrates 70 years with new single casks

As it continues its 70th anniversary celebrations this year, Douglas Laing & Co has released two new single cask whiskies – a six-year-old Caol Ila and a 25-year-old Glen Garioch.

A six-year-old Caol Ila and a 25-year-old Glen Garioch have been released to mark Douglas Laing’s 70th anniversary

Caol Ila 6 Years Old is the third expression in the firm’s Provenance Coastal Collection. Bottled at 48% abv, the single cask whisky has been aged in an ex-Bourbon cask and is limited to 405 bottles.

The Caol Ila whisky is described as having “loads of Islay peat” alongside “soot, ash and coal dust”.

The bottling follows the release of Jura 12 Years Old Single Cask in June and Bunnahabhain 10 Years Old Single Cask in March this year.

The latest expression to join the XOP Platinum range is a 25-year-old Glen Garioch single malt finished in an ex-Sherry cask.

The third whisky in a planned collection of four, the release follows the Ardbeg Vintage 1992 launched in March and Port Dundas Vintage 1974, unveiled in June. It is limited to 303 bottles.

Cara Laing, director of whisky, said: “2018 continues to be both a busy and exciting year for us at Douglas Laing & Co.

“Our platinum anniversary has been a real landmark highlighting our 70 years in the whisky industry and these latest bottlings are indicative of our commitment to releasing excellent single cask Scotch whiskies from all across Scotland’s whisky regions and at a variety of ages.”

The XOP Platinum Glen Garioch 25 Years Old has an RRP of €350 (US$405.76), while the Provenance Coastal Collection Caol Ila 6 Years Old is priced at €65 (US$75.36).
