Douglas Laing celebrates 70 years with single cask series
Douglas Laing will kick-start its 70th anniversary celebrations with the launch of a limited-edition series within its Xtra Old Particular Scotch whisky range: XOP Platinum.
A 25-year-old Ardbeg is the first single cask bottling in Douglas Laing’s XOP Platinum series
XOP Platinum will comprise four single cask bottlings, beginning with the launch of a 25-year-old Ardbeg single malt Scotch whisky.
Only 251 bottles will be available to purchase from April at an RRP of £900 (US$1,276) per 700ml, bottled at 50.6% abv, non-chill-filtered and with no added caramel colouring.
Douglas Laing was founded by Fred Douglas Laing in 1948 and is now run and owned by second and third generation family members.
The whiskies have all been chosen by Fred (Jnr) and his daughter Cara Laing, who have both signed and individually numbered each bottle.
Cara Laing, director of whisky, said: “These bottlings are a perfect representation of Douglas Laing’s commitment to specialist, artisan Scotch whiskies and we are releasing them at the point where we believe they are at their peak.
“The Ardbeg is an outstanding example of what is to come, and one I immediately knew had to be part of this special series of bottlings.”
Furthermore, Douglas Laing is also releasing a double pack of two 35-year-old whiskies as part of its Old Particular collection.
The Old Particular double pack will feature a 35-year-old Caol Ila and a 35-year-old Cambus, available from April at an RRP of £450 (US$638) for two 500ml bottles.
