Cotswolds whisky gains Waitrose listing

English spirits producer the Cotswolds Distillery has secured a UK-wide listing for its single malt whisky with supermarket chain Waitrose.

Cotswolds Distillery launched its inaugural whisky in October 2017

Cotswolds Distillery first launched the Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky in October 2017, which will now join the Cotswolds Dry Gin in Waitrose stores nationwide, and will also be available online via waitrose.com.

The whisky, which is non-chill-filtered and bottled at 46% abv, will carry an RRP of £45 (US$59).

Dan Szor, founder and CEO of Cotswolds Distillery, said: “We are delighted that Waitrose has chosen to list Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky so widely – it’s a wonderful statement of belief in both our distillery and in the wider world whisky category.

“We are passionate about showing consumers that small distilleries like ours, outside the traditional whisky heartlands, are committed to a production ethos that champions the highest quality local ingredients and distilling methods that are driven by quality over cost.”

Described as a rich and fruity single malt, the Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky has been aged in a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and specially shaved, toasted and re-charred red wine barriques.

John Vine, Waitrose & Partners spirits buyer, said: “We’re thrilled for Cotswolds Distillery and our customers, that this whisky will be available nationwide. It’s a really good example of a brilliant product we’ve stocked at Waitrose & Partners through our local and regional scheme and, having spent time at the distillery this year, I’m sure it will be popular with whisky fans across the country.”

The supermarket chain will also be expanding availability of Cotswolds Dry Gin nationwide, as well as through the Waitrose website.

Earlier this year, the English distillery announced it would be launching its whisky and gin expressions in travel retail for the first time.
