Pernod launches Cognac-finished Chivas XV

Chivas Regal is aiming to bring a more “contemporary” feel to Scotch whisky with a new 15-year-old blend finished in Grande Champagne Cognac casks – Chivas XV.

Chivas XV has been designed to be compatible with a “wide range of contemporary serving styles”, including as a shot or mixed in cocktails.

Bottled at 40% abv, Chivas XV is available exclusively in travel retail from July, but will be rolled out globally from 1 October 2018. It has an RRP of US$69 per one-litre bottle.

The whisky is available in two different packaging designs – a gold bottle, designed to make the bottle stand out during “moments of celebration”, and a clear bottle contained in a gold carton for gifting occasions.

Richard Black, global marketing director at Chivas Regal, owned by Pernod Ricard, said: “We know that Scotch whisky fans love Chivas’ generous house style but are also looking to experiment with new tastes and find new ways in which to enjoy their favourite spirit.

“Enter Chivas XV – the perfect expression for those who want to celebrate life with a truly luxurious and unique spirit that has been designed specifically with the energy of the consumption occasion in mind.

“A disruptive move for the category, Chivas XV presents a more contemporary side to Scotch, and encourages whisky drinkers to create memorable experiences that live on long after the celebration.”

Last week, Chivas crowned Bangkok-based bartender Arron Grendon as the winner of its 2018 Chivas Masters cocktail competition.

Meanwhile, in March this year the brand’s 18-year-old expression was given a packaging overhaul.
