Isle of Arran reveals Explorers Series

Isle of Arran Distillers has launched the first expression in its new limited edition Scotch whisky range, inspired by the landscape of the Scottish island.

Brodick Bay is the first expression launched as part of The Explorers Series

The first release in The Explorers Series pays homage to Brodick Bay on the east coast of the Isle of Arran.

The single malt Scotch has been matured for 20 years in both Bourbon and Sherry hogsheads and finished in oloroso Sherry butts from Spain.

On the palate, it is described as having “intense sweetness” with notes of dark chocolate raisins, fudge and honey.

Euan Mitchell, managing director of Isle of Arran Distillers, said: “Seeing the natural beauty of this island every day is so inspiring. It felt like the obvious choice to pay homage to the picturesque scenery through our new limited edition series.

“This first release is a very complex and multi-layered whisky, which was a conscious choice to reflect the diversity and charm of the island.

“All the instalments from The Explorers Series will be an innovative blend of flavours. We want to give whisky lovers something that is unlike anything else, because to us, there’s nowhere like the Isle of Arran.”

The Explorers Series follows the release of the Smugglers Series in 2015, which pays homage to the illicit whisky trade that once operated from Arran to Glasgow.

Brodick Bay is available to buy from the visitor centre in Lochranza or online from 10 July at 11am. It has an RRP of £130 (US$173) for a 700ml bottle.
