Bacardi joins pink gin trend with Bosford Rose
As the pink gin trend gains momentum, Bacardi has become the latest producer to move into the category with the launch of Bosford Rose Premium Gin & Strawberry Liqueur in the US.
Bacardi’s Bosford Rose Premium Gin & Strawberry Liqueur is now on sale in the US
Bosford Rose is created from the same recipe as the original Bosford London Dry Gin – including botanicals such as juniper, coriander, angelica, lemon and orange peel – which is then blended with strawberry and raspberry flavours, and a “hint of sugar” to give the expression a “light sweetness”.
Lisa Pfenning, global vice-president, acceleration brands at Bacardi, said: “Bosford Rose is a sophisticated and light-hearted spirit brand, which boasts a fruity, balanced flavour, designed to thrill the palate of today’s sophisticated consumer who likes to explore new and interesting flavours.
“Following its successful launches in Spain and France, we are excited to introduce Bosford Rose to the US cocktail scene and are confident it will make a colourful splash at any summer soirée and beyond.”
Bottled at 37.5% abv, Bosford Rose Premium Gin & Strawberry Liqueur is available throughout the US, including Maryland, Georgia, New York, Illinois, California and Florida, at an RRP of US$14.99 per 750ml.
Bosford Rose is the latest pink gin to hit the market in recent months. Smaller, independent brands first recognised a demand for pink expressions several years ago, such as raspberry-infused Pinkster Gin, which unveiled a new bag-in-a-box format earlier this year.
In 2017, Gordon’s released its own pink variant made with raspberries, strawberries and redcurrants.
Beefeater soon followed, releasing Beefeater Pink in February this year, which is flavoured with strawberries. To support the new release, brand owner Pernod Ricard launched a strawberry-scented advertising campaign in London’s Oxford Underground station in May.
Other brands also dabbling in the pink trend are Malfy, with its Rosa Gin, and UK supermarket Asda, which released a flavoured gin and two flavoured gin liqueurs last month.
