Luxco opens $35m Bourbon distillery in Kentucky
US spirits producer Luxco has opened its US$35 million Bourbon distillery in Kentucky, increasing the firm’s production capacity to 50,000 barrels per year.
Lux Row Distillers began producing Bourbon in January
Bardstown-based Lux Row Distillers, plans for which were confirmed in 2016, spans 18,000 square feet and includes six barrel warehouses, a tasting room and an events space.
The distillery, which began Bourbon production in January, officially opened to the public today (12 April) and has joined the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
Luxco produces Bourbon brands Ezra Brooks, Rebel Yell, David Nicholson and Blood Oath.
The distillery has a current production capacity of 20,000 barrels per year, but the new site gives the option to increase this to 50,000 barrels.
Lux Row Distillers has also become a Heritage member of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association.
The 90-acre property is home to an 18th century stone house – which is registered as a National Historic Place.
John Rempe, head distiller, said: “With the opening of Lux Row Distillers, the future of our Bourbon brands is in our hands – and it’s an incredible feeling.
“I am eager to continue the tradition of our long-standing brands, as well as flexing our creativity with new flavour profiles – continuing to provide our customers with the best Bourbon in the world. We have already filled more than 2,200 barrels and we are looking forward to filling thousands more.”
