Amber Beverage buys majority stake in Think Spirits

Amber Beverage Group has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Think Spirits, one of Australia’s biggest independent spirits distribution companies.

Amber Beverage Group’s portfolio includes Rooster Rojo Tequila

The deal between Amber Beverage Group (ABG) and Think Spirits is expected to be completed in May 2018.

The group confirmed that Patrick Borg, who founded Sydney-based Think Spirits in 2004, will remain managing director of the company and no operational changes are expected.

ABG, whose headquarters are based in Luxembourg, specialises in the production, distribution, logistics and retail of alcoholic beverages. Its portfolio includes Rooster Rojo Tequila and Riga Black Balsam.

Seymour Ferreira, CEO of ABG, said: “I am certain that the addition of Think Spirits will enable us to accelerate our drive to build a global platform for our brands.”

Borg also stated his optimism about the acquisition. He said: “Our companies share similar values and we believe the partnership will give us access to other brands within the group, allowing us to further strengthen our portfolio and teams for the benefit of both existing and new brand owners.”

In May last year, ABG bought a “strategic stake” in distributor Cellar Trends.

Earlier this month, ABG appointed Sergey Kovanda and Jeff Hopmayer to the supervisory board as non-executive directors.
