Sekforde launches Tequila and mezcal mixer

British start-up Sekforde has launched a new mixer designed to “enhance” the flavour profiles of Tequila and mezcal.

Sekforde for Tequila has been designed to “enhance” the characteristics of Tequila and mezcal

Sekforde for Tequila is described as a blend of prickly pear, fig and bitters.

It joins three other natural mixers in the range, each specifically designed for whisky, rum, and gin.

Using a blend of “natural” botanicals and English sparkling water, the Sekforde range is low in calories and aims to “celebrate the flavour of spirits”.

Each of the mixers has been designed to “enhance the flavour of the spirit without overpowering it”.

The range has been created on London’s Sekforde Street – which gave the business and brand its name – by husband and wife team Talula and Tom White.

Each 200ml serve contains less than 40 calories – bringing total calories per drink to less than 100 for a standard spirit single, and under 150 for a standard double.

Sekforde for Tequila is said to enhance the flavour of agave with the “gentle honeyed sweetness of prickly pear and fig with a slightly spicy chocolate bitters finish”.

It is recommended served in a highball or copa glass with ice with sliced rounds of fresh fig.

Talula White said: “Our taste trials show that people welcome new ways to enjoy spirits, especially with interesting botanical flavours rather than being drowned in sugary cola or ginger beer.”

Sekforde has recently signed an agreement with Original Brands as its UK distributer.

Sekforde for Tequila is available for an RRP of £1.00-£1.50 (US$1.40-$2.10 ) from 31Dover and Harvey Nichols stores nationwide and online.
