ProWein hits new highs in Düsseldorf

Wine and spirits trade show ProWein hosted a record number of exhibitors and visitors at this year’s flagship event in Düsseldorf.

ProWein hit new highs in terms of visitors and exhibitors at its Düsseldorf event

Held from 18-20 March, the event featured more than 6,870 exhibitors from 64 countries – up from 6,615 exhibitors from 62 nations in 2017 – and more than 60,000 trade visitors – up from 58,500 in 2017.

One in two visitors came from abroad this year – travelling from 133 countries in total to Düsseldorf.

Over 70% of visitors come from top or middle management and one in two visitors confirmed that they found new suppliers at the event. Just under 95% stated that they had fully achieved their objectives at the trade fair.

There were 400 spirits exhibitors at the show from across 30 countries, showcasing a range of products including Cognac, whisky, grappa and cachaça.

Around 500 information events and numerous guided tastings were organised at the exhibitors’ stands and at the ProWein Forum in Halls 10 and 13.

“Whoever has made their passion for wines and spirits their profession simply cannot afford to miss ProWein in Düsseldorf,” said Hans Werner Reinhard, managing director at show organiser Messe Düsseldorf.

ProWein’s ‘Same but Different’ section of the show this year focused on ‘craft’ products in Hall 7, featuring around 70 beer, cider and spirits brands.

Marius Berlemann, global head of wine and spirits and director of ProWein, said: “Our new offering was received extremely well. This shows we have our finger on the pulse of the industry here and have succeeded in staging the theme right to the point.

“We are on the right track here and look forward to expanding the concept even further.”

ProWine Asia 2018 will take place on 24-27 April in Singapore and ProWine China 2018 will be hosted from 13-15 November in Shanghai. The next ProWein Düsseldorf is scheduled to take place on 17 to 19 March 2019.
