NB Gin expands US distribution
Scottish gin producer NB Distillery is set to broaden its availability in the US by launching in 20 states in the coming months.
Scottish producer NB Gin has signed a distribution deal with Total Wine & More in the US
The North Berwick-based producer has signed a distribution deal with Total Wine & More, the largest independent wine retailer in the US. The deal is expected to exceed £4 million in sales over the next five years.
NB Original London Dry Gin and NB Navy Strength will initially be introduced to 80% of Total Wine’s stores across New York, New Jersey, Florida and California, with plans to expand into additional states later this year.
The distillery is also looking for an investment partner in the US to help support the company’s “ambitious” marketing plans.
“This is only the start of our US journey, and as such we are keen to invite investment discussions to the table to help develop this opportunity even more and tap into the potential our proposition brings,” said founder Vivienne Muir.
“We want to expand distribution even more, build the brand and overall maximise the platform Total Wine has provided us with. We are extremely passionate about our products and would now like to work alongside like-minded people who want to become part of our journey, who can help strengthen the US business and work with us to drive it forward.”
NB Gin first entered the US market after agreeing a distribution deal with Duggan’s Distillers in September 2015.
The Scottish producer is also planning to open a new distillery in the Scottish county of East Lothian next month, allowing the distiller to expand its production to a 24-hour operation.
Muir added: “We have been evolving and expanding throughout Europe and Asia in recent years, and to have the interest and ‘thirst’ from this retail giant is hugely significant in our growth plans. The market is quite literally booming; 1.5m more UK adults are drinking gin than four years ago, so this represents a huge opportunity for us.
“With the imminent opening of our new distillery and the switch to a 24-hour production process we can now easily satisfy the demand for the product range; so much so that our first US order will see a 40-foot shipping container leave Scotland’s shores.”
NG London Dry Gin and NB Navy Strength will be available at an RRP of US$34.99 and US$44.99, respectively. Both products are available to buy online or from wine and whisky retailer Lockett Bros in North Berwick.
