Kyrö Distillery hires Maverick Drinks for UK distribution
Finnish gin and whisky maker Kyrö Distillery has appointed Maverick Drinks as its exclusive UK distributor.
Kyrö Distillery was founded in 2012 by five friends
Founded in 2012, Kyrö Distillery specialises in rye-based spirits, including Napue Gin. The company launched its first Finnish rye whisky in December last year, which will be of limited supply until late 2019.
“We just love how Maverick handles booze,” said Miika Lipiäinen, Kyrö Distillery CEO. “When we started making rye spirits in Finland, we saw ourselves partnering with people who feel strongly about how spirits taste and equally how they are made and who makes them.
“This is a perfect match for us in the UK and we look forward to touring the country with Michael [Vachon – head of brand development at Maverick Drinks] and the Maverick team.”
The distillery also has a strong on-trade focus. In January last year, Kyrö Distillery expanded its on-trade programme, Kyrö Academy, and invited bartenders to develop a limited-edition bottle of bitters made with Finnish botanicals.
