Caorunn takes the lead as Scotland’s best-selling gin

Caorunn has been named the top-selling super-premium gin brand in Scotland, overtaking Hendrick’s as the nation’s best seller in the off-trade.

Caorunn says its new look has helped make it Scotland’s best selling super-premium gin

Retail measurement service Nielsen named the Inver House Distillers-owned Caorunn as the best selling super-premium gin, according to off-trade sales of 700ml bottles.

The news comes following a recent redesign for Caorunn, which was unveiled in January. The new look features a narrower bottle while retaining the brand’s pentagonal base.

Caorunn gin master, Simon Buley, said at the time: “The design has taken into consideration the Celtic botanicals foraged on the hills around Balmenach Distillery and how Caorunn is infused in the world’s only working Copper Berry Chamber. The care and attention of the spirit and bottle sets Caorunn apart.”

Over the last year, the gin brand has seen the popularity of its spirits rise, as well as a growing interest from consumers in the provenance of their food and drinks.

The gin brand said that customers had been attracted to its products as a result of its “personal, handcrafted process” which helps the brand “stand out in a very busy category”.

Inver House Distillery recently announced it would be undertaking extensive investment in the Balmenach distillery, where Caorunn is created, to transform it into “one of Scotland’s greenest distilleries”.
