Cooper Spirits Company appoints president

The Cooper Spirits Company has promoted Rick Scully to the role of president, at the same time as announcing a new distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits (SGWS).

Rick Scully is the new president of The Cooper Spirits Company

Scully, who has 25 years of experience in the drinks industry, previously served as president of the Peligroso Spirits Company where he helped grow the firm’s Tequila-driven portfolio and distribution channels. Prior to his new role, he held the position of senior vice president of sales at The Cooper Spirits Company.

“Rick has been an invaluable asset to The Cooper Spirits Company with his impressive understanding of the industry and dedication to driving the sales of our straight rye whiskey portfolio,” said Katie Cooper, owner of The Cooper Spirits Company.

Distribution of the Cooper Spirits portfolio will now expand to 20 additional states.

The agreement between SGWS and Cooper Spirits supports the supplier’s plans to grow its straight rye whiskey portfolio across the US.

The new markets include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Scully said: “I am excited to embark on this new chapter at Cooper Spirits and expand our partnership with SGWS.

“We are confident that with the power of our sales team, our unique portfolio of straight rye whiskey and Southern Glazer’s vast resources and market expertise, Cooper Spirits brands will be poised for growth for years to come.”

In October last year, The Cooper Spirits Company unveiled the third expression in its Lock Stock & Barrel series – an 18-year-old straight rye whiskey.
