Lakes Distillery co-founder appointed CBE

Chairman and co-founder of The Lakes Distillery Nigel John Mills has been recognised in the Queen’s 2018 New Year’s Honours List.

Nigel Mills has been appointed a CBE

Mills was appointed a commander of the most excellent order of the British Empire (CBE) for his co-founding of The Lakes Distillery, as well as his services to entrepreneurship in the north-east of England and Cumbria.

Mills said: “I am honoured, humbled and thrilled to have been awarded a CBE and that entrepreneurship in Cumbria and the north-east has been recognised at such a high level.

“Whilst working with entrepreneurs in the north-east and Cumbria, I see the passion, the desire, the history, the courage and the ability to turn these regions around and transform these challenges into opportunities.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me, and I look forward to the future of entrepreneurship and business growth in Cumbria and the north-east.”

2018 whisky launches

The Lakes Distillery launched the only British Isles blended whisky back in 2013, called The One, and is set to release Steel Bonnets in spring 2018, which will be a blend of English and Scottish single malt whiskies.

During the summer, the distillery will offer collectors the chance to purchase one of only 99 bottles of The Lakes Malt Genesis – the first single malt whisky from The Lakes Distillery Company. The expression will only be available via auction site whiskyauctioneers.com.

Furthermore, this autumn The Lakes Distillery will unveil The Lakes Single Malt Quatrefoil collection spanning four years to 2021. The range will comprise four bottles: Faith, Hope, Luck and Love.
