Borco CEO Markus Kramer steps down
By Nicola CarruthersIndependent German spirits group Borco has announced that Markus Kramer has stepped down from his role as CEO.
Borco CEO Markus Kramer has left the company after four years in the roleKramer, who joined the company in January 2014, has been credited for advancing the internationalisation of the firm’s Sierra Tequila brand, as well as the development of the distribution business in Germany and Austria
He joined from Diageo, where he served as managing director of Germany and Austria, and held previous roles at Coca Cola Germany, Bacardi, and Unilever Germany.
Kramer’s previous duties will now be shared between the departmental managers and co-ordinated by Dr. Tina Ingwersen-Matthiesen, member of the owner family and board member.
The team of departmental managers is made up of Norman Brüggemann, supply chain director; Kay Engelke, IBD director; Markus Kohrs-Lichte, general sales manager; Christoph Maaß, CFO; Hans Prigge, IT director; and Hendrik Schatz, global marketing director.
The company said in the release: “Following this change in the management, we are convinced that our company can continue to be successful and effective in our dealings with customers, suppliers, and distributors.”
In August last year, Borco expanded its Sierra Milenario Tequila range with a new smoky expression, made using a “unique” ahumado process with mesquite wood.
