Diageo MD joins German spirits group Borco

Diageo’s former managing director of Germany and Austria has become CEO of German spirits producer Borco-Marken-Import.

Markus Kramer will join Borco as its new CEO in January 2014

Markus Kramer joins the group – one of the largest in Germany – on 1 January as its new CEO, concentrating on the long-term positioning of Borco and “improving company standards”.

Moreover, Kramer will focus on brand innovations, German, Austrian and foreign customer arrangements and secure the independence of the family-owned group.

Jutta Matthiesen, CEO of Borco, said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved with our company in recent decades – together with our customers, partners and employees. For us, securing the strength, efficiency and independence of the family-run business has always come first.

“Mr Kramer has our confidence when it comes to controlling the strategic and operative fate of our company over the long term.”

Borco’s portfolio includes Sierra Tequila, Old Pascas rum, and Finsbury Gin. It also operates a distribution agreement for Fernet Branca, De Kuyper and Chartreuse.
