Global Vodka Alliance goes live

The Global Vodka Alliance (GVA) has launched its online platform, which features a first-of-its-kind vodka directory in an attempt to “add clarity to the category”.

The GVA – the vodka sector’s first collaborative drinks body – was first announced in August this year.

Made up of a group of brands, influencers, bartenders and industry experts, the GVA will focus on “education, integrity and innovation within vodka”.

It will predominantly operate as an online platform the features an “exhaustive” vodka directory, which categorises vodka by country of origin, base ingredient, production method and style.

A dedicated trade section of the website, created in collaboration with Red Snapper, will offer insight on trends, recent research, events and other marketing activations.

Founding members of the GVA include Vestal Vodka’s William Borrell, Freimut Wodka’s Florian Renschin, Sash & Fritz’s Peter Steger and Babicka Vodka’s Alex Clarke.

“I’ve spent the past year working with and meeting some fantastic people, from the American Craft Distilling Institute, brand owners and distillers of global brands and industry experts, all of which have contributed in their own way,” said Ben Lindsay, co-founder of the GVA.

“It’s an exciting time for vodka and we’re confident working closely with brands the education and excitement around vodka can continue to grow internationally.”

The GVA has also announced plans to host two more Vodka Summits in 2018 following the event’s launch this year. The first summit has been confirmed to take place in US, while details are still to be announced for the second.
