Lost Distillery Co adds Campbeltown Scotch to range

Dalaruan Distillery was founded in 1825 in Campbeltown – a region which at its height was home to 34 working distilleries, but now only three are in operation. Dalaruan was sold at auction in 1925, at the time of the region’s decline.
The triple-distilled whisky was a key component in the Greenlees Bros’ blend, Lorne.
“Once a well-known Campbeltown malt, Dalaruan has been lost for nearly 100 years,” said Scott Watson, co-founder of The Lost Distillery Company.
“We have conducted an in-depth research project to establish how this this long lost whisky might have tasted all those year ago then pay homage to its heritage by creating a modern expression.”
Dalaruan Classic will initially be launched in the UK, the Netherlands, Hungary and France, with plans to launch into 15 markets across the world over the next year.
The Lost Distillery Company creates blended malt whiskies described as “modern-day interpretations” of spirits from closed distilleries throughout history. Its range is divided into Classic, Archivist, and Vintage sections.
Last year, The Lost Distillery Company relocated its business to Scottish stately home Dumfries House, marking the first phase in the company’s “long-term strategic plan”, which will also focus on “developing whisky-making in Ayrshire”.
