Mackmyra sponsors Scandinavian Airlines
By Nicola CarruthersSwedish single malt whisky producer Mackmyra has been named the official whisky supplier of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).
Mackmyra whisky will now be available on Scandinavian Airlines flightsAvailable in 50ml and 500ml bottles, Mackmyra Svensk Ek will be served in Business Class and PLUS flights, and will be available for purchase on intercontinental and European routes.
Mackmyra Svensk Ek, which means “Swedish oak”, is named after the fact that 10% of the whisky has been matured in Swedish oak casks.
The whisky is described as having a “spicy character” with notes of “sandalwood, dried ginger and black pepper” from charred Swedish oak casks. “Fruity” malt complements the spice, with “vanilla and toffee notes” from American oak that had previously held Bourbon.
The whisky is made using Swedish ingredients and without additives, and by using climate-smart distillation technology.
“We are, of course, extremely proud that SAS has chosen Mackmyra. Now, whisky lovers the world over can enjoy our whisky and, hopefully, more passengers will discover us on their travels,” said Susanne Tedsjö, sales and marketing manager for Mackmyra.
“We have always worked to make whisky personal, which is why it is especially great to get the chance to adapt the design of our bottles to go with the SAS trademark.”
Earlier this month, Mackmyra launched a limited edition single malt whisky exclusively for the travel retail market, called Expedition.
