Mackmyra releases travel retail exclusive
Swedish producer Mackmyra has launched a limited edition single malt whisky exclusively for the travel retail market, called Expedition.
Mackmyra Expedition has been matured in Bourbon casks and Swedish oak casks
Bottled at 46.1% abv, Mackmyra Expedition is mostly matured in Bourbon casks and Swedish oak casks that have held Swedish cloudberry wine for some months.
Expedition is described as having a “great balance and complexity with tones of soft vanilla, fruit, soft toffee and cloudberries”. There is a “mild, smoky spiciness” on the finish with some “soft tobacco leaf, liquorice and dried herbs”.
“The travel retail market is huge, and with this unique, exclusive product, we are taking our first steps out into that global market,” said Lisa Collins, travel retail manager at Mackmyra.
“Expedition reflects Mackmyra’s Swedishness and originality. It is perfect for the international whisky drinker who is looking to experience Swedish flavours.”
Mackmyra Expedition is available on cruises including Viking Line, Tallink Silja, Birka Cruises and Eckerölinjen.
From 1 June, it will be available in Stockholm Arlanda Airport; Goteburg Landvetter Airport; Malmö Airport; and Stockholm Skavsta Airport.
Earlier this week, Mackmyra unveiled a 10-year-old expression – said to be Sweden’s first age-statement single malt whisky – in select export markets.
