Benromach unveils 41yo single malt

Gordon & MacPhail has launched a limited edition bottling of its Benromach single malt Scotch whisky brand that was distilled in 1975.

Just 162 bottles of Benromach 1975 will be available worldwide

Just 162 bottles of Benromach 1975 (49.9% abv) will be available worldwide at an RRP of £1,250.

Matured in a refill American hogshead, it is described as having hints of “white pepper, cocoa and dried tobacco”.

“Benromach’s global popularity is growing dramatically and the brand is now exported to more than 40 countries around the world, with sales increasing by 23% in the last 12 months alone,” said David King, international sales director.

“Our previous Benromach vintage exclusives have been incredibly successful, with vintages from 1972, 1973 and 1974 selling quickly and we look forward to continuing this success with the launch of the 1975 vintage.

“Our exclusive Heritage single malts celebrate different aspects of Benromach’s history and traditions. After 41 years in a carefully selected refill American hogshead, the character is both unpredictable and intriguing. I’m confident that whisky fans will be eager to savour this precious single malt that comes steeped in Benromach’s history.”

The new expression is presented in a bespoke decanter-style bottle and comes with a hardback book detailing Benromach’s history.

The wooden presentation box is inspired by the home of Benromach, reflecting the copper of the stills, as well as the dark, grained wood of the original washbacks and the white of the lime-washed distillery walls.

Benromach 1975 is now available from specialist whisky retailers.

In November last year, Gordon & MacPhail launched a new scheme offering international trade customers the opportunity to bottle a single cask of Benromach whisky and customise its packaging.
