BCB names France as 2017 Country of Honour
France will be the country of honour at Bar Convent Berlin (BCB) 2017, with the trade show set to fill all 10 halls at venue Station Berlin for the first time.
France will be the country of honour at this year’s Bar Convent Berlin
The on-trade-focused trade show, which will take place on 10 and 11 October 2017, will now span 18,000 square metres – 2,000 more than in 2016.
The expansion follows a 15% uptick in visitor numbers last year, when 11,064 bartenders, buyers and other food and beverage professionals flocked to the event, resulting in Station Berlin exceeding capacity for a short period of time.
As the country of honour, the French pavilion will carry the slogan “Made in France – Made with Love” and feature ten premium exhibitors.
Participants will be using the hashtag #BonjourBCB on social media to promote their presence at the show.
“BCB represents a unique opportunity for ‘French Spirits’ to feel the pulse of the bar scene,” said Dennis Abraham from Business France, the French agency for foreign trade and export promotion, a sponsor of the French pavilion. “Our presentation will mix an authentic and creative French touch into the international atmosphere.”
Also new for 2017 is the launch of Coffee Convent, a separate event run alongside BCB, hosted in partnership with expert Cory Andreen.
In total, 317 exhibitors took part in 2016, with more expected for this year’s edition, with 75% of space already booked, organisers say. Brands and companies that have already secured stands include Gruppo Campari, Death’s Door Spirits and Douglas Laing.
“BCB long ago emerged as the industry’s most important premium event in Europe and beyond,” said BCB director, Petra Lassahn. “More and more manufacturers from around the world visit us in Berlin to launch their new products here.”
BCB was founded by Helmut Adam, Jens Hasenbein and Bastian Heuser and in 2007, with the first edition hosting just eight exhibitors and serving the local bar scene.
The event has grown to become Europe’s “leading” premium trade show for the bar and beverage industry, and today offers a programme of lectures, seminars, masterclasses and tastings alongside the exhibition halls.
BCB was acquired by Reed Exhibitions in 2015.
