BCB to add extra hall as trade visitors swell 15%

Bar Convent Berlin (BCB) drew in more than 11,000 trade visitors for its 10th anniversary event, with an additional hall to be added in 2017 to cope with demand.

More than 317 exhibitors – up 20% on 2015 figures – set up shop at Station Berlin from 11-12 October. The final trade visitor count was 11,064, up 15% on 2015’s total.

With anecdotal reports of visitors queuing to enter the BCB this year, event organisers, Reed Exhibitions, have already announced additional space in Hall 1 will be added to the show footprint in 2017.

“BCB brings together that which belongs together — content for the bartender community and business for the beverage and spirits industry,” said Petra Lassahn. BCB director. “The combination of these two elements is what makes BCB so successful.”

As well as attracting record numbers of trade visitors, 2016 edition was also more international than before, with half of exhibitors and visitors alike travelling to Berlin from abroad for the show, notes Reed Exhibitions.

In addition to the exhibition programme, this year’s event also saw the first Global Drinks Forum take place. Around 100 delegates attended the full-day conference programme held immediately prior to BCB

BCB was founded by Jens Hasenbein, Bastian Heuser and Helmut Adam in 2007, with the first edition hosting just eight exhibitors and serving the local bar scene.

The event has grown to become Europe’s “leading” premium trade show for the bar and beverage industry, and today offers a programme of lectures, seminars, masterclasses and tastings alongside the exhibition halls.

“A harmonious blend of business and information has been the DNA of our success for ten years,” commented Adam.

“The partnership with Reed Exhibitions, which began last year, is also an important factor and has once again had a very positive effect. In the course of a decade, Bar Convent has become an essential event for the industry.”

BCB 2017 will take place at Station Berlin from 10-11 October. See the November print edition of The Spirits Business for further details on the event.
