That Boutique-y Gin Co unveils 11 bottlings
By Annie HayesThe team behind That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) has formed what is thought to be the world’s first independent gin bottler – That Boutique-y Gin Company (TBGC).
That Boutique-y Gin Company has released 11 batches of “new and experimental” expressions
TBGC has released 11 batches of “new and experimental” expressions from a variety of producers including Hernö, Ableforth’s, FEW Spirits and East London Liquor Company.
The company is set to bottle a variety of limited edition gins – from unreleased “pet projects” and tweaks to a distillery’s regular recipe to off-the-wall experiments and new collaborative concepts.
Ben Ellefsen, of That Boutique-y Gin Company, said: “We kept hearing the same story from many of our favourite distillers about partly or even fully developed liquids they hadn’t been able to release. As consumers, these gins not being available to enjoy made us sad – so we set out to fix it.”
As with the TBWC line of whiskies, each bottle will feature hand-illustrated graphic novel-style labels.
Created by the Grace J Ward, the images will give a visual nod to the distillery in question, “gindustry” in-jokes, and well-known faces – including TBGC’s David T Smith.
As with TBWC, the gin bottler plans to release its own creations, beginning with Cherry Gin – the “first” commercially available gin of its kind.
The initial expressions are as follows:
Ableforth’s Bathtub Gin Batch 1, Navy-Strength Palo Cortado Cask-Aged
Ableforth’s Bathtub Gin Batch 2, Pedro Ximénez Cask-Aged
Blackwater Batch 1, with quince, rosehip & bletted medlars
Cherry Gin Batch 1, with sweet and sour Marasca cherries
Cotswolds Batch 1, double-barrel blend of first fill ex-Bourbon & red wine cask-aged gins
East London Liquor Company Batch 1, with Douglas fir, lime, orange & exotic miyagawa
FEW Batch 1, with lime, coriander seed & fennel
Greensand Ridge Batch 1, with distilled raspberry juice & cobnuts
Hernö Batch 1, with fresh rose petals, blended with Juniper wood cask-aged spirit
McQueen Batch 1, Chocolate Orange Gin
Shortcross Batch 1, with distilled blackberries & damsons from the distiller’s estate
The first 11 releases are available from retailers including Amazon and Master of Malt.
