One Aldwych rolls out ‘first’ Old Fashioned trolley

The Lobby Bar at London’s One Aldwych hotel has unveiled a handmade Old Fashioned cocktail trolley, claimed to be the world’s first.

Created to the hotel bar’s own design, the Old Fashioned trolley was developed to offer guests a “bespoke” drinking experience by allowing the classic serve to be prepared at guests’ tables.

The trolley will house three spirits options – Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Bacardí Ocho Años or Patrón Silver.

Old Fashioneds are available in sweet, balanced or dry variations through the use of house-made syrups and aromatic bitters, with hand-cut ice and garnishes providing the finishing touch.

The trolley itself was designed by Pedro Paulo, Lobby Bar manager, and hand-crafted in Brighton. It is made from polished dark lacquer wood with silver detailing.

“The Old-Fashioned is my favourite cocktail, it’s strong yet mellow,” says Paulo. “I love how the complex notes of bourbon develop when sweet syrup and bitters are added. So I wanted to bring this to life for guests by taking the cocktail tableside where I create a drink exactly to their taste.”

Old Fashioneds from the trolley are available now, priced at £17 (about US$21).

Last year, Dorchester Collection’s London hotel 45 Park Lane introduced a Negroni Trolley, offering guests three variations on the cocktail.
