Highland dressmaker unveils 35yo single cask whisky

Renowned Highland dressmaker Kinloch Anderson has launched a 35-year-old single cask blended Scotch to “celebrate the connection” between tartan and whisky, Scotland’s most iconic products.

Highland dressmaker Kinloch Anderson has launched a 35 year old single cask blended Scotch

The new 35-year-old expression marks the Edinburgh-based firm’s first venture into single cask whiskies, and predates a series set for release before the end of the year.

The first batch of Kinloch Anderson 35 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky was produced from 50% single malt whisky and 50% grain whisky from the Highlands before being matured in an European oak Oloroso Sherry butt.

The liquid, which was bottled last month, is presented in a box lined with Kinloch Anderson’s Port of Leith tartan, which was designed in 1995 and is recognised on the Scottish Register of Tartans in the Scottish Parliament.

This particular tartan was chosen to represent the heritage of Edinburgh Harbour, as well as Leith’s influence on the Scotch whisky trade, which at one time housed 80% of all maturing Scotch whisky in Government bonded warehouses on its shores.

At the same time, the sherry barrels that entered Leith’s port from Jerez in Spain were used to mature and flavour the whisky – hence the Oloroso flavour.

Just 498 bottles have been produced from Batch 1, which is bottled at 46% abv with an RRP of £288 per bottle. The blend is set to launch simultaneously in Scotland and Singapore.

The whisky can be purchased online exclusively from Kinloch Anderson, Scotch Corner Whisky, and From the Barrel.
