Barton 1792 unveils High Rye Bourbon
Sazerac has launched the fifth limited edition release from Barton 1792 Distillery, called High Rye Bourbon.
High Rye Bourbon is the fifth limited edition release from Barton 1792 Distillery
The collection’s flagship product, 1792 Small Batch, is recognised for using a higher percentage of rye than most Bourbons – but this limited edition is said to bring “an even more intense amount of rye” to the mash bill.
1792 High Rye Bourbon was distilled in 2008 and aged for just over eight years in the distillery’s Warehouse K.
Flavour notes include “smooth butterscotch, light vanilla, and orange peel” on the nose with “hints of anise and black pepper” and “explosive spiciness of rye” on the palate, finishing with a “surprisingly smooth finish”.
High Rye joins previous releases Sweet Wheat, Port Finish, Single Barrel and Full Proof Bourbons.
1792 High Rye Bourbon will be available from late October at an RRP of US $35.99 for 750ml.
Annual releases of High Rye are planned for limited edition release going forward.
