Edgerton Gin names 22-year-old as new MD

UK-based pink gin brand Edgerton has named 22-year-old Gruffald Salter as its new managing director.

Salter, who joined Edgerton Original Pin Gin in 2013 and has helped the brand grows international distribution to 25 markets, will work closely with founder Martin Edgerton Gill.

“Gruff has gained in stature month by month since joining us at Edgerton in 2013,” said Edgerton Gill. “Not only have his sales results have been outstanding but he has shown that he can handle administration and control costs, while also acknowledging the vital role social media and marketing plays in the business.

“With more than 600 gins on the market today, the fact we are 50% up on last year is down to Gruff and I look forward with confidence to working with him in this new role.”

Gill launched Edgerton Original Pink after selling the “world’s first blue gin”, London No 1 Blue, to Spanish drinks producer Gonzalez Byass in 2010.

“It is a great privilege to lead Edgerton Gin into new markets as managing director,” said Salter.

“Edgerton is a brand with such genuine prestige and it’s an honour to work so closely with Martin as founder, who is still very much involved in the running of the business.

“Similarly, we’ve had a great response from consumers following record sales in Dubai and at supermarkets in Australia and Italy to name a few. With the UK being our home, the next stage is to re-focus our efforts towards tastings, events and exhibitions that support our current stockists here.”

In July last year, Edgerton launched the “world’s first” blue spiced gin.
