Family firm creates Laphroaig Hot Toddy flavour
By Annie HayesHampshire-based artisan ice cream creator Jude’s has collaborated with Islay’s Laphroaig distillery to launch a new Hot Toddy flavour.
Jude’s and Laphroaig Hot Toddy Ice cream will be available exclusively from OcadoThe new ice cream combines the company’s original ice cream with honey, cinnamon, and Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky to add a “dash of smoky peat”.
Described as “the perfect winter pep-me-up”, Jude’s and Laphroaig Hot Toddy Ice cream will be made available exclusively on Ocado from 1 October.
Jude’s was launched in 2002 – by the husband of Jude, who remains unnamed – in a small dairy barn.
He taught his sons Alex and Chow about the art of ice cream making, and they now work with some of Britain’s top chefs to develop new flavours.
Jude’s milk arrives fresh at the dairy each morning, and comes from a herd of 220 Holstein crossed with Swiss Red cattle at the local Matterly Farm.
The current range includes Very Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Truly Chocolate, Brown Butter Pecan, Flat White, and Gin and Tonic ice cream flavours.
Jude’s and Laphroaig Hot Toddy Ice cream will be available at an RRP of £4.99 per 500ml tub.
Earlier this year hotel group Warner Leisure Hotels launched an alcoholic ice cream van, offering free alcoholic-flavoured ice creams and sorbets.
