Mossburn submits plans for Borders distillery
Marussia Beverages-owned Mossburn Distillers has formally submitted a planning application to develop a £40 million whisky distillery near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, following an expression of interest in 2014.

According to The Daily Record, the planned distillery, set to be located at the Jedforest Hotel, will include grain and malt whisky plan, a visitor centre and a 200-seater restaurant.
Scottish Borders Council is considering the application, with a decision due in the autumn.
It’s thought the proposals would bring 50 new jobs to the area.
Mossburn Distillers is also currently developing the Torabhaig Distillery, which is set to become the second whisky-producing site on the Isle of Skye on completion, expected in 2017.
The Jedburgh application is one of a number of Borders distillery plans submitted in recent years. The Three Stills company secured £10 million in funding in 2015 to open a Hawick site, while R&B Distillers is has identified Peebles as a preferred spot for its own opening. The first site to open will mark the first Borders distilling in more than 180 years.
