More distillery plans for Scottish Borders revealed
After gaining planning permission for a distillery on the Isle of Skye, Mossburn Distillers has unveiled plans for another distillery in the Scottish Borders.

Although a formal planning application has yet to be submitted, the company said that it hopes to build a complex near Jedburgh, in the Scottish Borders, that includes a malt and grain distillery, ageing warehouses and a blending and bottling facility.
If approved, the project – costing around £40 million – will see the Jedforest Hotel converted into a distillery complex, restaurant and visitors’ centre.
Work will be overseen by project director Finlay Calder – ex-Scotland and British Lions rugby star.
The distillery could be the first to be the first to be built in the Scottish Borders in 170 years.
However, Mossburn Distillers will be competing for the title against The Borders Distilling Company, which also recently revealed plans to build a whisky distillery in the region.
Last month, Mossburn Distillers’ subsidiary The Torabhaig Distillery was given the green light by councillors to build a £5 million in the Isle of Skye – where currently the only distillery in operation is Diageo’s Talisker Distillery.
