Catawiki kicks off auction with 50YO Dalmore
By Kristiane SherryEurope’s “fastest growing” online auction house, Catawiki, has launched an exclusive whisky sale, featuring a number of “rare” whiskies.
Catawiki has launched its first online auction selling exclusively whiskyThe auction comprises 50 lots, including Dalmore 50 Years Old Pure Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in 1926, which is expected to fetch up to £12,000.
Other notable lots include a bottle of Balblair Vintage 1965, which is expected to achieve £1,700 at auction, and a Nikka Taketsuru 25 Year Old, with an auctioneer’s estimate of £790 – £1,030.
Releases from Port Ellen, Macallan, Brora, Glen Mhor and Ardbeg also feature.
“The Catawiki whisky auctions have gone from strength to strength, each week growing with evermore rare and exciting whiskies being offered up,” said Daniel Elswood, specialist whisky auctioneer at Catawiki.
“The variety of whiskies found on Catawiki ensures a dynamic, evolving and constantly exciting whisky market platform. This auction has some remarkably rare whiskies and we expect to see a lot of interest from whisky enthusiasts and collectors.”
The whisky auction runs until 10 April 2016.
Catawiki online auction house was founded in 2008 by René Schoenmakers and Marco Jansen, and has become the “largest” online buying and selling house for specialist objects.
The exclusive whisky sale follows a number of recent auctions which have featured notable bottles, including Sotheby’s Hong Kong which included a rare vertical of The Macallan.
