Bruichladdich releases TR-exclusive Port Charlotte

Rémy Cointreau-owned Scotch whisky brand Bruichladdich is to release heavily peated single malt Port Charlotte 2007 CC:01 exclusively into global travel retail.

Rémy Cointreau GTR is introducing Port Charlotte 2007 CC:01, distilled at Islay’s Bruichladdich distillery

The expression has been fully matured in French oak casks that formerly held eau-de-vie from the western Cognac region.

Aged for eight years, the limited release has given nosing and tasting notes of peat smoke, salt spray, poached pears, cinnamon, ginger and rich vanilla.

Port Charlotte is produced at the Bruichladdich distillery on the Hebridean island of Islay, where tall, narrow-necked copper stills give characteristic “elegantly floral” top notes.

Port Charlotte 2007 CC:01 will be available in travel retail alongside unpeated expression The Laddie Eight from April 2016.

CC:01 is non-chill-filtered, bottled at natural colour, and retails at €90 for a 70cl format.

Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail is exhibiting its TR/DF product portfolio at the upcoming IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas, which takes place at the Orlando World Center Marriott from 3-6 April.
