Big Peat celebrates Feis Ile with limited edition

Scotch whisky blender and bottler Douglas Laing & Co. has launched a commemorative bottle of its Big Peat brand to celebrate Islay music festival Feis Ile.

Just 500 bottles of The Big Peat Feis Ile edition have been created to celebrate the Islay music festival

The Big Peat Feis Ile edition bottle features stamp images of famous Islay landmarks, such as the round church at Bowmore and Port Ellen’s Kildalton Cross, with the ‘Big Peat’ character at the forefront of the design.

Just 500 bottles of Big Peat Feis Ile (48% abv, £49.99) have been produced, each of which is individually numbered. The edition will be sold on allocation to global distribution partners, as well as during the festival itself.

Some 50 bottles are available to pre-order now from Douglas Laing’s website, with a limited edition poster signed by company managing director Fred Laing included.

Launched in 2009, Big Peat is a blend of malt whiskies created in Islay.

“Feis Ile sees Islay truly come alive, attracting whisky fans from all over the world to this magical, week-long jubilee,” said Fred Laing. “We wanted to create packaging that does the Queen of the Hebrides and her Feis Ile Festival justice by creatively bringing together some of the wonderful symbols of the island that Whisky enthusiasts know and love.

“In true Douglas Laing style, our packaging is fun but the liquid inside remains as serious as ever, and this time he’s bottled at higher strength for an even punchier Big Peat hit.”

Douglas Laing has also partnered with Islay Ales to create Big Peat Cask Matured Ale, a “smoky” ale matured in ex-Big Peat casks, which will be exclusively available to buy at Feis Ile (20 May-28 May).
