Whyte & Mackay appoints US whisky distributor

Whyte & Mackay has enlisted E&J Gallo Winery as the exclusive US distributor for the firm’s The Dalmore, Jura and John Barr Scotch whiskies.

E&J Gallo Winery will distribute Whyte & Mackay’s Scotch whisky in the US from next year

Whyte & Mackay will still “drive strategic marketing decisions” and support E&J Gallo Winery’s sales and distributor teams through ambassador support in the States.

This partnership expands E&J Gallo Winery’s spirits portfolio in the US, as it enters into the whisky category.

Nick Garland, chief commercial officer at Whyte & Mackay, said: “We are hugely excited by the opportunity that this partnership affords us.”

Earlier this year, former Diageo director Jonathan Driver was appointed rare whisky director with Whyte & Mackay in an effort to drive the firm’s “ambitious international growth plans”.

The company was acquired by Philippine drinks group Emperador in November 2014 in a £430 million sale.
