Jägermeister creates new top marketing role
By Amy HopkinsJägermeister has made its first major appointment since acquiring the Sidney Frank Importing Company, appointing Marcus Thieme to the newly created position of chief marketing officer.
Marcus Thieme has been named CMO of Jagermeister at the Sidney Frank Importing CompanyThieme, who most recently held the role of regional director North America at Mast-Jägermeister, will oversee all US marketing initiatives in his new position.
The executive has worked at Mast-Jägermeister for 14 years and relocated to the US from Germany one year ago to establish Mast-Jägermeister Services (USA) Inc.
Since then, Thieme has been “working very closely” with the marketing team at Sidney Frank Importing Company (SFIC) – Jägermeister’s US importer and distributor – to build on the herbal liqueur’s brand strategy in the country.
In June this year, Mast-Jägermeister agreed to acquire SFIC, which has marketed Jägermeister in the US since 1974.
Both Mast-Jägermeister and Sidney Frank are privately held companies, and so have not disclosed the terms of the acquisition deal, which was completed in August.
“Marcus has played an integral role in the global success of Jägermeister,” said Michael Volke, executive board member at Mast-Jägermeister.
“Building on our recent announcement of our acquisition of SFIC as a key step in our long-term brand strategy, we are confident that this appointment will continue to strengthen the future and development of Jägermeister in the US and beyond.”
