Firebox releases Unicorn Tears gin liqueur

Online retailer Firebox has launched a gin liqueur called Unicorn Tears, bottled with edible pieces of silver.

Firebox suggests serving the liqueur in a ‘Unicorn Fizz’ or ‘Tears Collins’ cocktail

The new expression joins a selection of unusual spirits available on the website, such as Pistachio Cream Liqueur, Marshmellow Vodka, and Chocolate whisky.

Unicorn Tears is said to have an aroma of “fragrant juniper, alongside Curaçao orange and crisp lemon” in addition to  “bruised mint leaves and fresh lemongrass”.

On the palate, the variant has “big bundles of candied orange peels” with “flying saucer sweeties” and a hint of maple syrup”, along with “touches of pine-y juniper berries and cardamom”.

The finish is said to be of “sweet, juicy orange freshness”, and the liquid contains edible silver pieces.

Katie Richmond, product development manager at, said: “Since launching the product two weeks ago, we’ve seen an enormous amount of consumer interest in Unicorn Tears Gin Liqueur and there has also been lots of hype about the product via PR and social media, which has been fantastic.

“The product sold out of our initial batch within its first two weeks on the site due to the unprecedented demand, but we are due to restock on 25th September to keep up with the demand for Q4 and the Christmas season.

“We are also currently taking trade enquiries for this product, including an order with a London-based premium department store. For any additional trade enquiries please contact”

The retailer suggests serving the liqueur in a Unicorn Fizz, made of Unicorn Tears, prosecco and lemon peel; or a Tears Collins, combining Unicorn Tears and lemon juice over ice, topped with soda.

Unicorn Tears is bottled at 40% abv and is available on the Firebox website at £39.99 for 500ml.
