Woodford Reserve unveils Kentucky Derby bottle
By Annie HayesWoodford Reserve Bourbon will mark the 2015 Kentucky Derby with a limited run of bottles featuring artwork by equine artist Carole Andreen-Harris.
Woodford Reserve Bourbon has launched a new bottle design to commemorate this year’s Kentucky Derby
The label of the new commemorative bottle features six jockeys riding their horses around the first turn of the race, with the historic Twin Spires in the background.
The Bourbon has an established partnership with the ‘Run for the Roses’ as the official sponsor for 17 years.
Jason Kempf, Woodford Reserve brand director, said: “Woodford Reserve is honoured to have such an esteemed equine artist design this year’s commemorative Derby bottle artwork.
“Her incredible talent and love of horseracing truly captures the spirit and passion of the Kentucky Derby.”
Last year, Woodford Reserve’s commemorative bottle was designed by local artist David O. Schuster.
This year’s release is available in 1L bottle, and will be available in the US in early April, retailing at US$43.99.
In addition, the brand has launched an online charity voting initiative for the event, leaving the public to decide which organisation will receive the proceeds of this year’s US$1,000 Mint Julep Cup sales.
From now until midnight on 30 August, voters aged 21 and over can vote for either the Wounded Warrior Equestrian Program or the Disabled Jockey’s Fund at www.woodfordreservemintjulep.com/charityvote.
The derby has also collaborated with Brown-Forman for this year’s event to make Old Forester Mint Julep its official race drink.
