Tamdhu releases ‘complementary’ NAS Scotch

Tamdhu Distillery has released a no-age-statement single malt to “complement” its existing 10 Year Old.

Tamdhu Batch Strength will be released in limited quantities but remain a permanent fixture in the distillery’s portfolio

The expression is the second permanent release from the Speyside distillery since being bought by an Macleod Distillers in 2011.

Tamdhu Batch Strength, which will be released in batches in limited quantities, is non-chill-filtered and bottled at “high strength”, the first of which will be at 58.8% abv.

The expression has been matured exclusively in Sherry casks in line with Tamdhu’s signature style, and is said to have notes of red berries and nuts on the nose, with dried fruit and crème brulee on the palate.

Iain Weir, marketing director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “Tamdhu is a brand that we are exceptionally proud of and it’s great to be able to extend the range from our existing award-winning 10 Year Old malt.

“Our Batch Strength is the purists’ choice and we feel that this hugely satisfying malt is going to be a popular addition to the Tamdhu range. It is the closest you’ll get to sampling a dram of whisky straight from a Tamdhu cask.”

Ian Macleod released Tamdhu 10 Year Old, the distillery’s first expression under the new ownership, in 2013.
