Rock band Queen to release own vodka brand

16th September, 2014 by Amy Hopkins

Members of the iconic rock band Queen are to pay tribute to the group’s late front man Freddie Mercury by releasing their own brand of vodka.

Members of legendary rock brand Queen are to release their own brand of vodka, called Killer Queen

According to NME, the vodka, named Killer Queen, will be released later this month to celebrate the band’s 1974 hit single of the same name.

The vodka, produced by Stolichnaya Vodka-owner SPI group, has been distilled seven times and bottled at 40%.

Queen guitarist Brian May said: “Freddie loved vodka and used to carry a dry ice cooler full of vodka with him on tour.

“Killer Queen Vodka is the perfect tribute and using Killer Queen as the brand name was the perfect choice for us – we know Freddie would have approved.”

Killer Queen vodka will be officially released tomorrow, 17 September.

It was revealed last month that a UK company planned to release a 40-year-old Scotch whisky to commemorate 40 years since the death of Beatles legend John Lennon.
