Bacardi Legacy names top three UK bartenders

Three UK bartenders have been identified by Bacardi Legacy as the “most promising” in the country, with one set to enter the competition’s final next year.

Ally Martin, Benjamin Davies, and Matt Fairhurst have been crowned as the three UK finalists for Bacardi Legacy

Ally Martin, of London’s Peg and Patriot, Benjamin Davies, of Chester’s The Suburbs, and Matt Fairhurst, of London’s City Social were selected as the top three contestants in the Bacardi Legacy UK Final 2014.

They competed against eight other finalists at London’s Syon House last night and were judge by a panel of experts which included this year’s Bacardi Legacy global winner Tom Walker, of the American Bar at The Savoy, and Simon Difford.

Each bartender was tasked with creating a Bacardi rum cocktail that could be replicated anywhere in the world and demonstrated the brand’s history.

Over the course of the next few months, Martin, Davies and Fairhurst will promote their signature Bacardi cocktail, with one set to be selected to represent the UK at the competition’s 2015 final in May.

It was revealed earlier this month that the global final for Bacardi Legacy 2015 will be held in Sydney, Australia, marking the first time the cocktail competition’s grand final will take place in the Southern Hemisphere.

This year’s competition will see bartenders from 40 different countries – more than any previous year since its inception in 2008 – compete for the winning title.
