Phoenix Nights hotel busted with fake vodka

A Blackpool hotel made famous by UK comedian Peter Kay’s iconic sitcom Phoenix Nights has been caught stocking fake vodka.

The Lyndene Hotel, made famous by Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, has been caught stocking fake vodka

Around 40 boxes of counterfeit vodka were seized from The Lyndene Hotel, which appeared as the fictional Le Ponderosa in the sitcom almost 10 years ago, The Gazette reports.

Inspectors found that the hotel was stocking vodka where the alcohol content varied between bottles, indicating the stocks were counterfeit.

The spirits were then sent off for testing where they were confirmed to be fake. Blackpool Council trading standards officials are now considering whether to prosecute the hotel’s owners.

This bust mirrors the fictional Le Ponderosa hotel’s own indiscretions, as the establishment was depicted as selling non-brewery made beer.

When contacted yesterday by The Gazette, the assistant manager at The Lyndene Hotel said the manager was unavailable for comment.
