$500k of Hennessy Cognac stolen in US
By Melita KielyPolice have still not traced more than half-a-million dollars’ worth of Hennessy Cognac that was stolen from a shipping yard in Baltimore County, US, on 16 March.
More than £500,000 worth of Hennessy Cognac was stolen from a shipping yard in the USA total of 2,142 cases of Hennessy Cognac worth US$514,000 were stolen when an unknown number of people broke into a fenced-in parking area of ServeU, a freight shipping company.
Baltimore police said the thieves managed to gain access to a white 2001 Freightliner truck with “Hale Trucking” written on the door, before attaching it to a yellow cargo container holding the Cognac.
Speaking to CBS Baltimore, Cpl. John Wachter, Baltimore County police spokesman, said: “They were able to contain access to a 2001 freightliner truck.
“They backed that truck up and hooked it up to a trailer that had a cargo container on it. Obviously, we don’t know who the suspects are. We don’t know their motive.”
Baltimore police recovered the abandoned truck and trailer in the city on Tuesday but have still been unable to locate the missing Hennessy Cognac.
A $2,000 reward has been offered for anyone with information leading to an arrest.
