Dan Aykroyd promotes vodka in Oz
By Amy HopkinsLegendary Ghostbusters actor and founder of Crystal Head Vodka Dan Aykroyd has made his first trip to Australia and New Zealand to promote his brand.
The Ghostbusters actor visited Australia and New Zealand ahead of the 2014 launch of Crystal Head in the countries.Although Crystal Head has been available in the antipodean countries since 2012, Aykroyd, the face of the brand, has only recently visited stockists and consumers in the country.
“Dan and company are heading to Australia and New Zealand to kick off the brand in those markets with personal appearances and bottle signing on 8 October,” Kenton Tasker, director of sales and marketing for Crystal Head told The Spirits Business.
While in Australia, Akroyd also hosted the Crystal Head Vodka Cocktail Challenge at Sydney’s Sokyo bar, announcing Ben Lancaster from The Kodiak Club as the winner.
His visit pre-empted the launch of a new replica three-litre bottle format in early 2014. Just 5,000 of the unique bottles will be made exclusively available to bars, restaurants and nightclubs in Canada, the UK, Asia and Australia.
One of the most talked-ablut and recognisable vodka bottles launched in recent years, Crystal Head is inspired by the legend of 13 crystal skulls which are said to grant spiritual powers to those that possess them.
The vodka is quadruple-distilled, triple-filteredthrough charcoal before being triple-filtered through Herkimer diamond crystals.
A limited edition bottle of Crystal Head Vodka was launched earlier this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of rock band The Rolling Stones.
