To commemorate the 50th anniversary of legendary rock band The Rolling Stones, actor Dan Aykroyd has commissioned a special bottling of his Crystal Head Vodka.
The limited edition Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Gift Set is being released in a partnership between Crystal Head Vodka – the official vodka for the band’s 50th anniversary – and Universal Music Canada ahead of Father’s Day in North America (16 June).
“It is a huge honor and recognition of our high quality product to have Crystal Head designated as the officially authorized vodka for the Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Worldwide celebration,” said Aykroyd.
“Together with Bravado, the band’s licensing company, we have created the ultimate gift package for Stones fans and their families. There has never been a greater Father’s Day gift, Halloween decoration or Christmas present. Anybody who loves the Stones or great vodka—and pretty much everyone I know loves both—will be all over this.”
The limited edition gift set, which is available for US$89.95, features an iconic bottle of Crystal Head Vodka with an interchangeable crystal decanter top engraved with The Rolling Stones lip-and-tongue tattoo. Also included is an exclusive 2-CD compilation of live Rolling Stones hits, a bottle tattoo featuring the 50th anniversary logo, and handcrafted display case featuring a real zipper reminiscent of the Sticky Fingers album cover.
“The Rolling Stones and Crystal Head Vodka are two iconic brands and we’re thrilled to be partnering with both in this, the Stones’ 50th year,” commented Universal Music Canada CEO Randy Lennox. “The Stones are the greatest rock ’n’ roll band of all-time and Crystal Head Vodka a leader in the spirit world with the synergies between the two brands endless.
“We are excited to be working alongside Dan and his creative teams to bring this wonderful partnership to the fans.”
The Rolling Stones limited edition is expected to sell out quickly, generating much Satisfaction for Aykroyd. Consumers may find You Can’t Always Get What You Want as the limited edition gift set will be in short supply.
Suntory Rolling Stones
But Crystal Head Vodka is not the only spirit group celebrating the half-centenary of the legendary band.
At the end of last year, Japanese drinks group Suntory released a series of Rolling Stones-themed alcoholic beverages including beer and RTDs, alongside a limited edition whisky.
A blend of several malts distilled at the Yamazaki distillery and laid down throughout the band’s 50-year history, including a single malt “long aged” in mizunara casks, the whisky was presented in a crystal bottle with the lips-and-tongue logo etched onto the front.
Each malt was chosen in relation to the corresponding year of major Rolling Stones milestones, such as 1962, the year the band formed.
Just 150 bottles of the whisky were released on 30 October 2012.
