Marie Brizard releases vintage spirits range

Marie Brizard’s Old Lady’s Dry Gin joins Marie Brizard Anisette and Pastis Berger in the vintage rangeThe range of three products – Pastis Berger, Marie Brizard Anisette liqueur and Old Lady’s Gin – are set to launch in October 2013 across both the on- and off-trade in France, Spain and other European markets.
Having noticed a rising demand from both bartenders and consumers for nostalgic products with history and heritage, Marie Brizard is presenting the range in bottles styled on those used more than 50 years ago.
Pastis Berger is a limited edition run of 80,000 one-litre bottles. Marie Brizard has created the 45% abv pastis based on an original recipe used by Berger in 1947 and presented the liquid in a bottle reminiscent of the style used in the era.
Marie Brizard Anisette (25% abv) is based on a bottle created in 1948, when the face of Marie Brizard herself first appeared on labels, and a recipe first perfected in 1755. The labelling of the new limited run of 30,000 bottles also reflects anisette’s first use as a pure, “frappe” or diluted drink, with recipes detailed on the back.
Lastly, Old Lady’s Gin, a brand dating back to 1960s Bordeaux, is presented in a stubby bottle typical of the style of the time, of which there are just 30,000 bottles. The face of Marie Brizard is printed again, along with four cocktail recipes that were popular at the time, including the Gin Fizz. A 40% abv gin, Old Lady’s is said to have floral, iris, angelica and coriander notes.
