Absolut launches oak-aged vodka in US travel retail
Absolut has released into US travel retail its oak-aged vodka which the company claims “challenges the status quo” of spirits categories.
The travel retail roll out follows the successful release of the product in the US earlier this year
Absolut Amber is a deeper colour then the standard Absolut vodka variations, having been exposed to a blend of Swedish, American and Bourbon oak casks and blended with an oak-macerated spirit.
“With Absolut Amber we break down the traditional boundaries of white and dark spirits,” said Mathias Westphal, global brand director of The Absolut Company. “We are now able to offer our consumers a completely new taste experience.”
Described as combining the “smoothness of vodka and the rich, complex character of dark spirits, Absolut Amber has notes of caramel, vanilla and roasted oak.
Master blender Per Hermansson said: “While experimenting with resting Absolut in oak, we explored various methods of barrel aging, as well as researching types of oak and ways to use macerations, before landing the perfect blend.”
Absolut Amber will roll out across North America travel retail from September following a successful release in the US domestic market earlier this year.
